Business Card
Introduction
A card which provides information about a company or an individual can be called as business card. This card is often used during sales calls. This business card was developed as a fusion of traditional trade card and visiting card. Business card started gaining its popularity from the 17th century in London. It was supposed to be a business and status symbol among the upper middle class persons and traders.
Identifying features
Some of the identifying features of a business card are: issuers name, company logo (proves company affiliation) and contact information like street addresses, telephone number(s), e-mail addresses and website.
Appearance of a business card
Conventionally business card was designed by simple black text on white background but today most of the competitive business card exhibits impressing visual design with a UV glossy coat. Business card is also printed with a digital copier.
History
A brief history of the business card:
Business card can be thought as the mixture of visiting card and trade card. Visiting card first
emerged in China in the 15th century and it appeared in Europe in the 17th century. The visiting cards were used as symbol of status and sophistication among the elite classes. Ultimately, it became an essential commodity to the upper-middle class gentlemen. Then came trade cards in the beginning of 17th century in London, basically used by the merchants class as a tool of advertisements. With the passage of time this trade card gradually became a business card by modifying its design.
Usage
Business card is mainly used for business purposes and by the entrepreneurs and small Office / Home Office (SOHO) professionals, although some persons use this card as their personal contact information.

The international standard size specified by ISO 7810 ID-1 is 85.60 × 53.98 mm (3.370 × 2.125 in)
The size sometimes differs country wise.
