One has to be very careful about the authenticity of the trading cards.
The value of trading cards depend on several factors. They are:
- Availability of the card.
- Condition of the card.
- Popularity of the card.
- Position of the images.
- Glossiness of the cards.

- Packaging of the cards.

The method of determination of the value is called grading.Every indiviual should understand well the logistics involved in determining the value of the trading cards . This ensures a genuine approach in evaluating the prices of the trading cards .
In determining the value of the trading cards the following grading scale is uesd:
Mint(MT) :
The four corners are perfect.
Position of the image is good.
Near Mint(NM):
One corner imperfect
has it’s original gloss.
Position of image near to good.
- Excellent Mint(EX-MT).
- The trading card has two or three imperfections.
- Excellent
- A trading card with few minor imperfections.
- Very good
- A card which shows clear signs of being handled plenty of times but the condition is still good enough for trading.
- Good(G), Fair(F), and Poor(P).
A trading card which has major imperfections.
Trading card value depend on the trades that are agreed upon and the ones which are declined within a very limited timeframe.
While determining the value of the trading cards one has to face certain risks and should accordingly take necessary precautions while striking a deal so that one is not robbed off ones valuable collectibles.
There are two ways one can trade the trading cards .
- Personally.
- Postal mail
The first way of trading can take place anywhere ones school, college premises,
at a football match, a hotel, at a get together etc.,. In this method one can handle the cards and scrutinise the t rading cards themselves, hold it in there hands and inspect. Accordingly the indiviual can fix up a value for the trading cards .
Trading personally can be risky in two ways:
- One may get counterfeit cards.
- The indiviual may get a value far less than the actual value of the cards .
One can look out for the following in determining the authenticity of the trading cards.
They are:
- hologram
- colour schemes of the trading cards .
- General layout of the trading cards .
Trading through mail is done when the traders live far apart.
In this case one has to solely depend on ones luck. Care should be taken that the address one has given while trading is verified.
The value of a trading card changes with time as more and more new cards are created
and the demand of the old ones usually decline.
