With more people preferring to transact in cash, the use of credit card in Germany is lower than other European countries. This is because credit cards are not accepted at every store. Most stores in the country have a sticker on the door indicating the acceptance or non-acceptance of credit cards. However, it is always better to confirm. VISA and Eurocard/Mastercard are the most used cards in Germany and are offered by almost all banks. The use of credit cards also attracts higher charges compared to other countries.[br]

A word of caution for those not residing in Germany, banks do not issue credit cards easily to travelers. In Germany, credit card use would require that your bank has a branch in Germany. To get a credit card in Germany, a bank account from which your monthly dues will be paid must be declared.
