Besides Amex credit card bill payments through NEFT are not subject to any maximum ceiling or minimum limit. However, to avail this service, the remitting bank must also be linked to NEFT.[br]

Amex India Credit Card Payment Online: Procedure 

For making an Amex credit card payment through NEFT, login to the Net Banking of the remitting account and submit your register with the Amex credit card as a beneficiary. In the absence of a Net Banking account, request for an NEFT application form and furnish the following details:

  • Amex 16 digit credit card number
  • Name and address of the remitting bank branch
  • Remitting account type, that is savings or current
  • Remitting account’s number

Additionally, American Express has tied up with ICICI, ABN AMRO, HDFC and Citibank to offer the online ‘Bill Payment’ service. To register for the service and make payments towards an Amex card bill, simply log on to the Net Banking account of one of these four banks and choose the Bill Payment option.

Alternatives to Amex India Credit Card Payment Online

American Express India offers several offline credit card payments to cater to customers who are not Internet savvy or are uneasy with online payments and transactions. Common alternatives to Amex India credit card online payment are:

In person: Cardholders can directly pay their outstanding credit card payments at an American Express branch. However, this facility is only available at select metros, including Chennai, Kolkatta and New Delhi.

By post or courier: To make a credit card payment by this means, send a crossed cheque or draft, payable to “American Express Bank credit card number”, with the payment slip that is attached at the bottom of the card statement.[br]

Drop boxes: Cardholders can also drop their cheque or draft into an Amex drop box, which are setup at several Amex ATMs across the nation. A detailed list of Amex drop-box locations can be found on the American Express India website.  

Finally, you could consider Amex India credit card payment by enrolling in the direct debit facility. Under this, a predetermined amount, which may be the full card monthly outstanding or the minimum monthly payment, is debited from a nominated account through RBI’s Electronic Clearing Service (ECS). An ECS request from can be downloaded from American Express’s website or accessed at an Amex branch.
