Bulgaria is a former Communist country that entered the EU in 2007. As one of the poorest countries of central Europe, Bulgaria is slowly moving from its old command economy towards a market-oriented economy. Today, the economy of Bulgaria is an industrialised, free market economy with a small public sector and a moderately advanced private sector.
