Agrarian land reform is the distribution, re distribution, collectivization, personalizing of landed property. The government controls the land and decides the ownership of the land. Land mostly includes agricultural land.

History has witnessed many revolutions being trigerred due to dissatisfaction in matters related to Agrarian land reform. Conflicts arise due to wide disparity between the landless and the landowners.

The agricultural workers toil throughout the day to earn a living and when a large part of the production is taken away by the landlords, it amounts to injustice. So, Agrarian land reform also includes transfer of title rights and ownership norms. Agrarian land reform encompasses transfer of tillable land by few solvent landowners possessing stretches of land to individuals who till the land by the imposition of land ceilings. As per agrarian land reform, the transfer is carried out against some kind of compensation. Compensation may include a meager amount of money or may include the cost of the whole land.

In the event, when an individual tries to acquire more than his entitlement, the land is disinvested. The disinvested land is redistributed to the people who are in need .

Agrarian land reform, has to meet certain objecties. The main aim is to come to a point of reconciliation between the landless and the landowners. Efforts are made to enhance cooperation among the rural and the urban population. A healthy agrarian land reform system also ensures more agricultural productivity. Creating jobs for the agricultural workers is also looked into. A sound political structure for the successful implementation of the land reforms is also aimed at.
