Digiseq, a wearable payments company, decided to enter into a partnership with Unlimit to enable wearable payment products ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2023.

Together, the two firms will enable contactless prepaid key fobs and access control to more than 1,000 guests at the event. The new product comes from the need to mix technology and convenience — something that has always been important to both companies.

How do wearable payments work?

Being able to make convenient payments is helpful in any situation, especially in the thriving domain of international sports events. Digiseq and Unlimit have teamed up to streamline financial transactions for both the guests at the event, as well as the staff, thus boosting the overall user experience at the large-scale event.

In fact, the staff and VIP guests of the World Cup partners, such as Capgemini, Asahi Beer, and Jaguar Land Rover, have already received pre-loaded fobs that will allow them to pay for any expense during the event.

The way this works is that Digiseq’s technology was integrated with repaid accounts offered b Unlimit’s BaaS solution. Users will even be able to check their accounts’ balance to know how much funds they have at their disposal simply by tapping the fob on their phone.

Digiseq’s solutions integration manager, Iain Case, commented by saying that Digiseq’s innovative use of wearable technology will open the gateway to countless immersive and exciting experiences for millions of sports fans. All of it will be possible and easily accessible through various wearable gadgets that users can travel with effortlessly not worrying about their money.

A new era of wearable payment devices is starting

Digiseq is known for transforming physical objects into contactless payment devices, and it even carved its own niche in the fintech sector by offering wearable technology and finding a way to combine it with advanced financial solutions.

On the other hand, Unlimit is a high-quality BaaS platform, which extends customized prepaid account solutions in order for them to seamlessly align with multiple user requirements. Not only that, but the accounts are capable of supporting various technological integrations, as can be seen in this case.

The launch of the new product, now in possession of over 1,000 guests at the event, will highlight the collaboration between the two companies. More than that, it will start a new era where the sports sector and fintech can come together to offer some unique and interesting products that are both fun and useful.

Even beyond that, the partnership and the launch of the fobs suggest a potential for further advancements and integrations in global sporting events that have yet to come.
