Sterling Trading Tech Appoints Julie Armstrong As Chief Commercial Officer

Sterling Trading Tech has revealed the appointment of Julie Armstrong as its Chief Commercial Officer, a newly established role intended to accelerate the firm’s global growth initiatives. The company stated that Armstrong, a seasoned veteran with extensive experience in financial technology, had joined the team.

The firm added that her appointment followed the recent recruitment of former Fidessa executive, Chris Contrino, who was named Sales Director.

Armstrong To Drive Commercial Strategies As Sterling Trading Tech Expand

According to a press release shared with FinanceMagnates.com, the firm disclosed that Armstrong would oversee commercial strategies aimed at expanding into new client segments. she would also focus on strengthening the company’s product reach and increasing its global footprint.

The company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Nayar, described the appointment as a crucial move during what she termed a transformational period for the organization.

She noted that the company had invested heavily in product innovation and infrastructure to support institutional growth and global expansion. Nayar emphasized that Armstrong’s role would be instrumental in driving revenue growth.

The firm linked the new appointment to recent business developments, including the March expansion of its Sterling Risk & Margin (SRM) platform to support fixed income instruments. This expansion complements its existing services for equities, options, futures, foreign exchange, and cryptocurrencies.

Armstrong Aims To Bring Extensive Experience To Sterling Trading Tech

According to update, Armstrong most recently served as Vice President General Manager and Global Head of Verticalized Industry and Partnerships at Convera. She led cross-border payment solution teams from March 2023 to March 2025.

Prior to that, she held the Chief Marketing Officer position at Aeris Communications and at ChartIQ, where she was also previously a board member.

The firm noted that Armstrong had also spent close to eight years at CME Group in several executive roles. During her tenure, she managed a $100 million profit-and-loss portfolio and was responsible for co-location services, software trading solutions, and market data sales. She was also credited with launching the CME Tech Talk conference series in global financial hubs.

In her statement, Armstrong expressed her enthusiasm about joining Sterling Trading Tech. she stated that the company was uniquely positioned as a next-generation infrastructure provider in financial markets. She highlighted the opportunity to contribute to a firm that, according to her, is already making a strong impact in the industry.

Sterling Trading Tech added that it currently provides professional technology solutions for equities, equity options, and futures markets. It serves more than 100 clients, including brokers, clearing firms, and proprietary trading groups, across over 20 countries.
