Advent International, a leading private equity outfit, recently decided to expand its fintech franchise, and to do it, it hired a new executive who is an expert in the fintech sector.

The individual in question is Kahina Van Dyke, who formerly worked at a number of major corporations, including Standard Chartered, Ripple, as well as Meta.

Van Dyke joins Advent International

According to the company, Van Dyke will actually join as an operating partner. Her task is to work with Advent’s technology, business, and financial services teams and collaborate on identifying potential new opportunities. Along the way, she will also collaborate on supporting the management teams of various portfolio companies.

Advent has a number of high-profile fintech investments, including WorldPay, Vantiv, Conservice, TransUnion, CCC Intelligent Solutions, XPLOR, Nexi, and Planet, to name a few. The company’s MD, Eric Noeth, commented on the new addition to the firm by praising Kahina, stating that she has been at the forefront of fintech for over three decades now.

“Working on-the-ground in more than 50 countries over the course of her career, Kahina brings an invaluable wealth of global experience from her roles at several leading financial institutions, large technology companies and high-growth start-ups,” North added.

Van Dykes career

Van Dyke’s career started back in 1994 when she became a corporate membership manager at the Business Council of New York State — a position she held until 1997. After that, she spent the next three years as a Senior Merchandising Manager and Buyer at Time Inc., only to move on to Citi after that.

She worked at Citi for the next nine years, advancing through the ranks and switching several positions. After nine years at City, she moved to Mastercard — a company where she spent the next eight years, also advancing from one position to the next. In 2016, she became a Global Director of Financial Services, Global Commerce, and payments at Meta (at the time, Facebook).

Two and a half years later, Van Dyke switched to Ripple, a blockchain-based enterprise payments firm that seeks to partner with as many banks as possible and offer them the ability to utilize its payments network, RippleNet, to achieve instant global transactions. At Ripple, she became the the lead of Institutional Markets, Corporate & Business Development team, where she stayed for a little over a year and a half.

Finally, before joining Advent, she was a global head of digital and data analytics at Standard Chartered — a position she held for three and a half years. Along the way, she also founded Inkwell Beach LLC in 2018 and became a member of the board of directors at Progressive Insurance during that same year.
