Manchester Digital Sets To Boost Fintech In The Northern Region

Manchester Digital has announced the launch of its new Manifesto for the Northern Tech Economy. The digital launch is in preparation for the Manchester Mayoral elections coming on May 2, 2024.

The idea is to create a new body that will improve investment, innovation, and skills acquisition across the region. The tech leaders across the region are supporting the new Manifesto to coordinate the efforts of business, academic, and political leaders to create a strong pan-regional tech ecosystem.

The Manifesto also includes plans to create a Regional Digital Investment Fund and an international Northern Tech Summit. The investment fund will take care of the global capital support for scale-ups and start-ups.

The organizations also want tailored support as they plan to invest in more engineering talents in the Northern tech economy.

Northern Cities Can Become Britain’s Biggest Tech Destination

Chair of the Digital Board at Manchester Alison Ross, commented on the development.

She stated that with the right collaboration, organization, and investment, northern cities have all it takes to become the biggest tech hub in Britain.

She added that the Mayor of Greater Manchester needs to carry out an investigation and research to build a Northern Tech Nexus to establish a new global technology ecosystem within the region. According to Alison, the Northern region has always been a place where tech businesses will flourish and it’s important to take advantage of the enabling environment on the ground to set up a global tech hub in the region. With proper plans, the region will become a counterpoint to the usual dominance of South East and London when it comes to tech.

The Companies Want To Work With The Mayor For The Tech Innovation

Managing Director at Manchester Digital, Katie Gallagher, also commented on the manifesto and the potential for the Northern region. She added that the idea is to work with the Mayor as they plan to explore the opportunities within the northern tech ecosystem.

All parties involved will collaborate and work with the Mayor to ensure that the northern region receives the required attention when it comes to tech and innovation. Katie added that they have explored the potential in the region and want to take advantage of the strengths across different city regions to ensure large-scale tech growth.

The manifesto already contains the recommendations made by experts in various fields of tech. the main focus is on the Northern Tech Economy, to boost skills and tech innovation in the process.
