IG Group Appoints William Mead As New Operations Chief

William Mead recently announced on LinkedIn that he has started a new position as Head of Operations at IG Group. Mead had previously worked at IG Group in several roles. From October 2019 to August 2024, he was the Head of Trading Operations.

Before that, from January 2017 to October 2019, he was the Global Head of Credit and Client Money. He held both roles were in London.

IG Group Aims To Offer Efficient Trading Solutions

Mead stated in his post that he is “happy to share” that he is starting a new role as Head of Operations at IG Group.

IG has informed its community forum that PayPal will no longer be an option for UK users. This decision comes after discussions with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), which led IG to revise its payment methods.

UK users will have to use other methods to fund and withdraw from their accounts. IG suggests using Apple Pay due to its quick transactions and high approval rates for a smooth experience. An IG administrator stated, following talks with the FCA, that IG Group has revised its payment options. The firm recommends Apple Pay for its fast transactions and high approval rates.

IG Group’s three UK subsidiaries have published their FY23 financial results. According to a report, two of the companies saw a decline, while one experienced better profitability.

IG Markets Limited reported a drop in net profit to £171.3 million from £188.2 million and a decrease in trading revenue to £405.2 million from £453.6 million, due to inflation and market fluctuations.

IG Group Strives To Adapt Its Product Offerings To Meet Local Regulations

IG Index Limited reported a decline in net profit to £102.5 million and a drop in net trading revenue to £236.5 million. In contrast, IG Trading and Investments, which was set up in August 2022, posted a net profit of £9.17 million, an increase from a nearly £800,000 loss. Total equity also grew from £3.5 million to £20.7 million.
