Google and OpenAI alongside many other technology firms have signed an open letter, promising to develop AI. The letter was spearheaded by Ron Conway, a philanthropist and venture capitalist, and his firm SV Angel.

Conway stated on X that this venture is a shared responsibility of developing AI that enhances lives and unlocks a brighter future for humankind. He added that SVAngel makes this promise and the team is happy to kickstart this Open Letter: Develop AI for a brighter future.

The Letter Supports The Progress Of Responsible AI Technology

It was stated in the letter that AI is special in directly enhancing human thought. It is predicted that its impact will be similar to that of the Internet, electricity, the combustion engine, and the printing press.

The balance of its bad and good influence on humans will be defined by the thoughtfulness and actions humans demonstrate. It is a combined obligation to make decisions that enhance AI’s benefits and reduce the risks, for today and upcoming generations.

Up to now, the letter has been approved by firms like Hugging Face, Salesforce, Microsoft, Meta, Google, and OpenAI, and has secured more than 350 signatures.

The letter supports the progress of responsible AI technology and aims to ensure accountability, transparency, and fairness in AI applications. However, it does not list particular steps and actions that businesses will implement to accomplish this.

OpenAI is an artificial intelligence research institute located in the US. It was established in December 2015. The company focuses on creating beneficial and safe artificial general intelligence, which it describes as very autonomous machines that beat humans at most economically valued work.

SV Angel Offers Advice And Seed Investment To Early-Stage Businesses

As a top player in the AI resurgence, it has created many innovative image generation models, huge language models, and open-source models. Its launch of ChatGPT is attributed to kickstarting the AI resurgence.

SV Angel operates as a seed fund headquartered in San Francisco. It offers advice and seed investment to early-stage businesses that concentrate on Internet software.

The company uses a wide-ranging strategy in seed investing. The business assists startups with M&A, financing, business development, and other tactical advice.

Ron pioneered this strategy more than 20 years ago but SV Angel still uses it to date. For the past 20 years, the company and associates have advised and invested in firms like Cloudera, Square, Snapchat, Twitter, Pinterest, Airbb, Dropbox, PayPal, Google, and Facebook.
