A certificate of deposit account will automatically renew itself when it reaches the maturity date if you choose to do nothing and/or if you do not notify the bank of your intentions in regards to the CD. You are given a grace period of 10 calendar days following the maturity date in order to take the funds out of the CD account without being subject to a penalty. If you wish to withdraw your money you can also let the bank know in writing before the date arrives.
Be aware that the annual percentage yield (APY) that is showing for each CD term is subject to change at any given time. The interest rates are fixed until the account has officially been opened. The minimum required to start a CD account at FNBO Direct is $500. This is also the minimum balance you need in order to keep the APY at what it was when you started the account. The maximum deposit of principal that you can open the account with is $1,000,000.
