EDXM Appoints Former BitGo Exec as APAC Managing Director

Kai Kono recently announced on LinkedIn that he is now the Managing Director and Head of APAC, at EDXM Global. In this role, Kono will lead the company’s efforts to grow internationally.
Based in Singapore, EDXM Global is supported by EDX Markets. The platform was launched in 2022 by top financial companies like Charles Schwab, Virtu Financial, Fidelity Digital Assets, and Citadel Securities among others.
EDX Aims To Create A Custody Model For Big Investors
The firm is also supported by well-known cryptocurrency investment firms like Paradigm, Pantera, and Sequoia. Before joining EDXM Global, Kono had several key jobs. He was the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Spring Digital from June 2023 to July 2024.
Before that, he worked as the Managing Director for APAC at Zodiac Custody in Singapore from July 2023 to May 2024 and as the Chief Executive Officer at the same company from September 2023 to May 2024.
Earlier, EDX Markets teamed up with a regulated cryptocurrency platform, Anchorage Digital, to provide a custody solution for EDX’s new clearinghouse project. The companies said this partnership aims to bring traditional market standards into the digital asset world.
EDX plans to use traditional finance practices to create a custody model designed for big investors. This approach lets investors choose their favorite custodian and makes sure their assets are not tied up for long periods.
EDX Wants to Provide Competitive Prices And Transparent Market Information
Kono’s positions also includes being the Global Head and Managing Director of Digital Asset Sales at BitGo from February 2022 to July 2023. Before that, he served as APAC Executive Director at BitGo from April 2021 to February 2022.
Before joining BitGo, Kono worked at Liquid. He was the Chief Business Officer from May 2020 to April 2021, and the Managing Director and Global Head of Business Development & Sales from October 2019 to May 2020. He was also the Head of Asia Pacific Business Development & Sales from April 2019 to September 2019.
