The technology branch of Caixabank plans to add 500 developers in the first three months, going past 1,600 workers. The hiring includes a big boost in Seville, where the bank will begin growing its technology hub focused on building software in February, hoping to increase the team from 40 to 200 people.

CaixaBank Tech, which also has offices in Barcelona and Madrid, has added more staff over the past two years and now has more than 1,100 people who focus on using technology in financial services.

The Company Aims To Grow To 2,000 Employees In The Next Three Years

The firm is looking for engineers from different areas, mainly software builders. The aim is to have a total of 2,000 workers in the next three years. The centres in Madrid, Barcelona, and the new base in Seville will turn into technology hubs to attract talented people.

According to CaixaBank Tech, the skills it wants in new workers include software building in backend and frontend roles, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud experts, Data Engineers, and data safety. At present, 30% of CaixaBank Tech workers are women, and the company is working to keep encouraging diversity and inclusion in the tech field. The bank said one example of this is the WONNOW Awards, which the firm runs with Microsoft to celebrate the best female STEM students in Spain.

Currently, 11 winners from the programme work at CaixaBank Tech, and the company has hired over six women from this programme. The company also works with programs to push STEM learning from secondary schools and other university projects to grow female talent.

The hiring process has already started, with plans to bring in new workers by January. With more than 11 million people using its digital banking, CaixaBank has the biggest group of digital customers in the Spanish banking sector. It is known globally for its innovation, working on projects like blockchain, quantum computing, big data, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing to enhance banking services.

CaixaBank Plans To Spend Over $5 Billion On Technology Over The Next Three Years

In November, the bank revealed its intentions to spend over $5 billion on technology in the next three years to improve digital sales and introduce new products and services. The Spanish bank noted that it will improve its services and abilities using generative artificial intelligence, while its systems and channels will be upgraded to keep the group strong.

It has already set up a team of over 100 people to work only on using generative artificial intelligence in both internal and customer-related services.

To carry out this plan, the bank believes it is key to bring in and keep the best talent, support a culture of closeness, quick actions, and teamwork, and mix the strengths of experience and youth. To do this, Caixabank plans to bring in 3,000 young people between 2025 and 2027, most of whom will have technical skills.
