Barclays appoints Tim Albers to head its FTX Strats and Structuring division

Barclays has hired Tim Albers as the Head of FX Strats and Structuring. Albers previously served as the head of FX Structuring at Nomura. Albers will leave Nomura after serving at the company for more than 13 years.

Barclays hires Tim Albers

Albers comes with an extensive experience of more than 15 years in the industry. The executive worked as a forex executive at Barclays Capital for less than a year. He worked at Barclays from October 2008. Before joining Barclays in 2008, he worked for one year and five months as a forex analyst at Lehman Brothers.

Albers first started working at Nomura in June 2009. At the time, he served as the company’s Executive Director of FX Structuring. He later took another position as the Executive Director of FX Options Trading for the Singapore market. At Nomura, he also held the role of Head of FX Structuring, AEJ as seen in his LinkedIn page

Albers has the necessary experience to work in the industry and a solid educational background to support his career. Albers holds a Master of Science degree in Finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Barclays and Nomura made several appointments in 2022

Barclays and Nomura restructured their executive positions, with the two companies making several new appointments during the last months of 2022. Barclays appointed Arif Vohra as the co-Head of Investment Banking Financial Institutions Group in Europe and the MENA region.

The financial institution also promoted Ben Parkinson to the FX Automation Sales for the Barclays Corporate & Investment Bank. Before the appointment, Parkinson served as the Managing Director of the company.

The other new appointment that Barclays made was that of Hossein Zaimi, who took over as the Head of Markets in the Asia Pacific region. These appointments saw Barclays changing its leadership across multiple markets.

Similar changes were also seen at Nomura. The company recently appointed Patrick Eltridge as the new Chief Information Officer. Eltridge holds this position for the company’s Tokyo offices.

In early 2022, Nomura hired Tan Tee How as the Chair of its Board of Directors. How was appointed to chair the company’s Audit Committee for Nomura’s Asia Pacific Holdings. How was appointed to serve in these positions following the resignation of Michael Lim.

The other notable hire that Nomura made early last year was that of Robert Stack, who was appointed as the Head of Investment Management in the company for the American market.

While new hires have taken place, Nomura has also reported significant resignations at its executive positions. As aforementioned, Lim resigned from the company in early 2022. Ian Daniels, one of the veteran sales executives, resigned from the company towards the end of September 2022. After leaving Nomura, Daniels joined BCG Partners, where he was appointed as the Global Head of Fenics NDF.
