Launched as part of iOS 18, users can transfer Apple Cash without sharing personal information. This option is like Tap to Pay, introduced two years ago, and allows vendors to accept payments by tapping an iPhone.

Apple disclosed a more limited strategy that avoids forward-looking considerations regarding the technology’s potential in favor of current tasks that conserve battery life.  Federighi said that he believes AI’s purpose is not to displace users but to strengthen them.
