Air Canada has inaugurated a new seasonal route connecting Montreal (YUL) to Porto (OPO), marking the airline’s second destination in Portugal. The inaugural flight, AC928, departed Montreal on June 4 at 9:50 PM and arrived in Porto the following morning at 9:20 AM local time. This new service aims to cater to the growing demand for travel between North America and Southern Europe.
Operated by Air Canada’s Airbus A330-300 aircraft, the route offers three classes of service: Economy, Premium Economy, and Air Canada Signature Class. The Signature Class provides passengers with lie-flat seating, gourmet dining, and priority airport services, enhancing the long-haul travel experience.
The seasonal flights will operate three times a week: outbound flights from Montreal to Porto on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, and return flights from Porto to Montreal on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The service is scheduled to run until August 28, 2025, offering travelers ample opportunity to explore Porto during its prime tourist season.
Porto, a UNESCO World Heritage city, is renowned for its rich history, vibrant culture, and scenic landscapes. Visitors can explore landmarks such as the Dom Luís I Bridge, the historic Ribeira district, and indulge in the city’s famed port wine. The new route provides convenient access for both leisure travelers and those visiting friends and family in Portugal.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada, expressed enthusiasm about the new route: “We are delighted to be returning to Porto, marking our newest Europe route this summer and second destination in Portugal. We design routes like this one to appeal to our customers throughout our North American network, with convenient travel options at our Montreal hub.”
This expansion is part of Air Canada’s broader strategy to enhance its European network. Other new routes launched this summer include services to Naples, London, Prague, and Edinburgh, reflecting the airline’s commitment to providing diverse travel options for its customers.
