Global ingredient solutions leader Ingredion, Inc. has announced a major investment of $100 million to upgrade its manufacturing facility in Indianapolis, reinforcing its position as a key supplier of specialty starch-based texturizers for customers around the world.

Valdirene Evans, senior vice president and president of Global Texture Solutions at Ingredion, emphasized the significance of the investment, saying, “These investments will enable the Indianapolis plant to continue to lead in supplying the highest quality and most innovative specialty starch-based texturizers for global customers.”

According to the company, the substantial capital will be used to modernize production processes, increase operational efficiency, and install an energy cogeneration system aimed at boosting the plant’s sustainability performance. The upgrades will also involve replacing and updating equipment to align with the latest technological standards.

Ingredion’s Indianapolis site plays a crucial role in its global network, producing a variety of starch-based solutions that help food and beverage brands meet changing consumer demands for improved texture and mouthfeel. The planned upgrades are expected to support the company’s broader goals of driving innovation and maintaining a competitive edge in a fast-evolving market.

In addition to strengthening its production capabilities, the investment demonstrates Ingredion’s commitment to operating more sustainably. The planned energy cogeneration system is expected to reduce the facility’s carbon footprint by generating electricity and useful heat simultaneously, improving overall energy efficiency.

The project is slated for completion in the second half of 2026, after which the modernized facility is anticipated to support Ingredion’s ability to meet growing global demand while ensuring high product quality and operational resilience.

Ingredion, headquartered in the Chicago area, supplies ingredient solutions to customers in over 120 countries and continues to invest in state-of-the-art technologies to meet evolving consumer trends.
