Goldman Sachs Welcomes Head Of Hess Corp as New Independent Board Member

The Chief Executive Officer of Hess Corp, John B. Hess, has joined the Board of Goldman Sachs to become an independent director. Mr. Hess joined the Board of executives as the most recent addition, following the senior banking executive Montag Tom, who was added as an independent director last year.

Hess Engages in Guyana Oil-Production Joint Venture

Hess is set to join the Goldman board’s reimbursement, governance, and risk committees. The deal involved a battle of peacemaking and negotiation with CNOON and Exxon Mobil. Hess is associated with a very profitable Guyana oil-production cooperate venture.

He has served as the Director of Hess Corporation, Chief Executive Officer of Hess Corporation, and the chairman of Hess Midstream LP in his three decades of industry experience. He was also the Board’s chairman from 1995-2013.

After the sale of Hess Corporation to Chevron Corporation, Hess will retire from his duties at Hess Corporation and midstream and will be inculcated into the Board of Directors of Chevron. Mr Hess has served as an independent director at various companies, including Dow Chemical Company and KkR & co. Incorporated.

David Solomon, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Goldman Sachs, affirmed that the firm is pleased to announce that John Hess has become a part of its Board. He further stated that Hess’s 30 years of experience as head of Hess Corporation will benefit the Board, the management team of Goldman Sachs, and stakeholders. John will help them grow globally, just like he led Hess Corporation’s transformation into a strategic global market.
