Following the impersonation of Pocketpair’s office account, the Palworld developer is taking steps to sue the impersonator. The account promised fake in-game rewards in a malicious advertising campaign using an office account similar to Pocketpair.

Palworld Developer Pocketpair is considering legal action after its official account was impersonated by another with a gold verified badge on X, maliciously advertising NFT and promising in-game rewards.

Pocketpair Says It Has Reported The Issue To X

The Palworld developers have also denounced the impersonation action by the culprits. They urged users to be wary of any strange advert purportedly coming from them.

In a tweet, Pocketpair stated that the @Palwcrld_jp, which also has gold badge verification, was created to confuse it with @Palworld_jp.

Since X users identify a genuine account from a fake one from the verification badge, it was an issue to nip the bud in time. It made the impersonator more natural and credible to the users.

It’s unclear how the impersonator got the approval from X to display a verified badge on their account. Since the idea of the badge was to prevent scammers from impersonating accounts, it becomes a problem if people can still scale past this restriction.

Pocketworld Still Faces Challenges Despite Game’s Popularity

Palworld also noted that it’s unclear how many people have become victims of the impersonation or the extent of damage already caused. However, Pocketpair has stated that X is already aware of the impersonation after reporting the issue to the social media platform. Pocketpair says the next step for the company is to take legal action. This has not stopped the Palworld team from providing its services to users. It recently released a trailer to honor a specific pal, Ktress.

The Palworld game is currently available for Xbox and PC. The game has several playing options for users and participants. Users can also play with friends by renting a private server on SurvivalServers.

PocketPair is also releasing several new features for the game to make it more exciting and intriguing. However, the game is still facing some challenges, in addition to the latest impersonation incident on its X account.

Palworld has sold more than 8 million copies on Steam since the game was released, according to SteamDB monitoring portal. The game has gained popularity among young players and once recorded over 2 million players during its peak playing period.
