Jeff Ward has taken over as the new CEO of FX electronic liquidity distribution provider FXSpotStream. Ward assumed this position on January 1, 2024.

Ward’s appointment in this role was announced in August last year. He has now replaced the former CEO and co-founder of the company, Alan Schwarz, who resigned in 2023.

Jeff Ward Assumes CEO Role at FXSpotStream

The board chairman at FXSpotStream’s parent company, Mark Meredith, said the board was confident in Ward’s leadership skills, knowledge, and strategic insights into the industry.

“Following an extensive and rigorous search, the Board is highly confident that Jeff’s exceptional leadership skills, strategic insights, and deep industry knowledge make him the ideal choice to drive the company’s continued growth, as well as strengthen its partnerships and build key new relationships,” Meredith said.

FXSpotStream offers services in the institutional spot FX spot and derivatives markets. Its API also supports FX Algos and allocation, further expanding the available services.

Before Ward assumed this new CEO role, the Chief Technology Officer at FXSpotStream, Tom San Pietro, took the helm of leadership at the company. However, his role was temporary, with Ward now taking over a permanent position.

Extensive Experience in Financial Markets

Meredith’s confidence in Ward stems from his extensive experience in the financial markets. Schwartz confirmed his appointment through an update on LinkedIn, where his extensive work experience can also be seen.

Ward is a veteran in the financial service industry. He comes with three decades of experience, which will be instrumental in navigating his new role as the CEO of FXSpotStream.

Before taking over the leadership mantle at FXSpotStream, Ward served as an executive at the CME Group. He served at CME until its acquisition by NEX Markers.

Over the last five years, Ward has served as the Global Head of EBS at CME Group, based in London. His LinkedIn profile shows that in the early stages of his career, he worked at Citibank before joining ABN AMRO Bank, where he served as the Executive Director at its locations in Amsterdam, New York, and San Francisco.

Ward has also worked for six years at ICAP, which later rebranded into TP ICAP. While working at this company, Ward served as the SVP before being promoted to Regional General Manager for Asia and Oceania. He was later appointed as the Global Head of FX Sales.
