Sweat Economy, a Web3 ecosystem that seeks to encourage users to engage in physical activity by rewarding steps with cryptocurrency, has just expanded to nine new nations.
Among the new countries are the Bahamas, Botswana, Barbados, Ghana, Jamaica, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, Uganda, and the US.
What do you need to know about Sweat Economy?
The project launched in Europe about a year ago, building its project on an app called Sweatcoin. Initially, the app launched to encourage people to walk or jog, and earn cryptocurrencies for making a certain number of steps every day.
At first, the tokens were useful for purchasing certain rewards, such as shopping vouchers, travel tickets, or even charitable donations, and alike. However, with the launch of Sweat Economy, the project took the next step, entering Web3 and becoming a proper crypto project.
Sweat Economy is a project powered by the Sweat Token (SWEAT), a cryptocurrency that represents tokenized physical activity. The token is actually minted by staps, and it is managed via a non-custodial Web3 mobile wallet dApp.
The project also launched a Growth Jar, which allows users to deposit accrued SWEAT tokens into it, where they are saved and multiplied over a period of time. Doing so also unlocks certain exclusive rewards that the ecosystem has to offer.
Users also get to compete in a Sweat Hero NFT game — a free-to-play game that the project has developed, where they can win some extra SWEAT tokens. Furthermore, owning SWEAT also allows users to participate in the project’s governance and collectively make decisions on certain matters that the community needs to resolve.
The project’s co-founder, Oleg Fomenko, stated that Sweat Economy is thrilled to finally enter the new markets, and that the team is excited that the residents of these countries will now also be able to, quite literally, walk into crypto.
A great way for users to obtain cryptocurrencies for free
Given that there is no need for users to purchase anything, and they can simply install a free app and start earning tokens by walking, the project does represent a good way to enter the crypto industry completely for free. For most other projects, users have to purchase tokens during a presale, earn them by completing certain tasks, or simply buy them on an exchange.
With SWEAT, all it takes is installing the app on the smartphone and walking around the users’ daily business, to the point where users can even forget they have the app installed. Then, when they remember and go check it out, they will find their earnings waiting to be locked away in the Growth Jar, or used in another way.
