STRUCTURE OF THE ECONOMY
Among the various sectors of the economy the contribution of the services sector in the total GDP is note worthy.



The Important manufacturing items of the country are steel, aluminum, apparel, textiles, beverages and foodstuffs. It is also a leading producer of the cement, tires, paper and fertilizers.

In the field of agriculture the country lacks its advantage. The major agricultural products of the country are maize, sorghum, sugar cane, rice, bananas, vegetables, coffee; beef, pork, milk, eggs; fish.

For the agricultural products the country relies upon so many countries including US as the largest trade partner with regards to the Agricultural commodities.




The major industries of the country are petroleum, iron ore mining, construction materials, food processing, textiles, steel, aluminum, and motor vehicle.

According to estimation as made in the year 2005, agriculture, industry and services constitute 4.6%, 48.2% and 47.2% of total GDP.
