Rhode Island is a state belonging to the New England. The state is bounded by Massachusetts, the Atlantic Ocean and Connecticut.

The state has a total geographical area of 1,545 sq mi; with a land area of 1,045 sq mi; and acres forested 0.4 mil.

Though the economy was traditionally relied upon the manufacturing sector, still the system is diversified in the recent years. In the present days the economy more relies upon the services, trade and finance.

The U.S. Census Bureau has estimated the total population of the state at 1,076,189 in 2005 compared to 1,080,632 in July 2004. Net Change in the population of the state 2002-03 was 0.7%. According to the US Census 2000, the total population was 1,048,319. The population density of the state is 1,029.9 per sq mi.
With regards to the Racial Distribution 2000, White 85.0%; Black 4.5%; Asian 2.3%; Native American 0.5%.

Business and Economy of Rhode Islands
The Gross State Product of the state in 2001 was $36.9 billion. The per capita personal income of the state as of 2003 was $31,916.
The Chief Industries are services and manufacturing.
Important manufacturing goods are costume Jewelry, toys, machinery, textiles and electronics.Major Crops are nursery products, turf and vegetable products.
Livestock (Jan 2004): 5,500 cattle/calves; (Jan 2003): 2,600 hogs/pigs; Apart from this tourism and gambling are also main sources of the revenues for the state' economy.
