Major crops of the state are sugar, pineapples, macadamia nuts, fruits, coffee, vegetables and floriculture.
Livestock of the state Jan (2004): 156,000 cattle/calves; (Jan 2003): 23,000 hogs/pigs; (Dec 2003): 600,000 chickens (excluding broilers); 750,000 broilers.
However in the state there is the presence of high tax burden. In the year 2002 and 2003 per capita tax burden on the people of Hawaii were US$2,757 and US$2,838, respectively.
