Car Rental

There are various car rental companies in South Korea. The largest car rental companies are Aju Avis and Kumho Rent A Car and both have outlets all over the country.

Most aiports have car rental facilities, as to the large train stations, KTX Station, and the express bus terminals around the country.

If you are only traveling in urban areas, such as Seoul, it is easier to not rent a car but to use the public transportation systems. But if you plan on making trips to smaller towns or the countryside, renting a car may be your best option. This is true especially if you are going to Jeju Island.

What do you need to rent a car in South Korea
  • Driver's license
  • Passport
  • You must be at least 21 years old and have at least one year of driving experience in order to rent a compact car
  • You must be at least 26 years old and have at least three years of driving experience to rent a full-size car, a 4WD, an SUV, RV, or minibus
  • You must be at least 30 years old and have at least five years of driving experience to rent a vehicle which can carry 15 passengers or more
  • Any or all additional drivers must register with the rental company
