Industrial sector of the country's economy plays an important role. The percentage share of industrial sector in the total GDP was 57.6 in 2005. Major industries in the country are cement, textile, mining, chemical, food and beverages.

Important agricultural products in the country are coffee, cocoa, sugar, palm oil, fish and cattle. Percentage share of the agricultural product in the total GDP as in 2005 is 7.7.

The contribution of the manufacturing sector to the GDP is following a declining trend in the recent years.
