STRUCTURE OF THE ECONOMY

Among the various sectors of the economy the percentage share of the service sector in the total GDP was the highest that is 59.6 in the year 2003.

The percentage share of the agriculture sector in the total GDP of the country has declined to 17.9 in the year 2003 from 28 percent in 1984.





The major agricultural products of the country are sugarcane, coffee, cotton, cocoa, tobacco, rice, beans, potatoes, corn, bananas; cattle, pigs, dairy products, beef and eggs.

The percentage share of the Industrial sector in the total GDP of the country was 22.5 in the year 2003. The following table shows the percentage share of various sectors in the total GDP.
