The oil and gas sector is the primary driving force behind Angola’s substantial growth rate, in part from benefits associated with the high cost of oil and gas internationally. Thanks to a boom in building and reconstruction after the war, as well as displaced people settling in, other sectors to include building, construction, farming, fishery, and agricultural have also seen significant growth. However, because of the 27-year civil war, a large portion of Angola’s facilities and infrastructure remain damaged or undeveloped. Today, the primary sources of income include farming, fisheries, and subsistence agriculture although approximately 50% of the country’s food stuff is still imported. Angola Unemployment

In 2009 the Angola population was 17 million but approximately 50% of the country’s population is unemployed or underemployed. Inflation was at a whopping 325% in 2000, it dropped dramatically to 13% in 2008 due to a more stabilized economy. In 2009, it was estimated that Angola was ranked at number 58 specific to the employed labor force. Although significant improvement has been seen with Angola unemployment rate the Angola government realizes that more needs to be done.

Angola Current Account Balance Forecast

For the year 2009, the Angola Current Account Balance for this country was a negative $2.235 billion in US dollars. With this, Angola was reported at number 146 regarding world rankings.
