Uranium Mining Industry

Uranium is a radioactive element found in the nature and uranium mining industry is basically concerned with this energy. Uranium can mostly be found from earth's crust, although it can be found all over the earth.
Application fields of Uranium mining industry
The primary focus of uranium mining industry is on energy and it's application. We can get a large amount of atomic energy by splitting uranium into smaller atoms through nuclear fuel cycle. More or less seventeen percent of global electrical power is obtained from nuclear energy.

Uranium can also be used to produce electricity. Normally the mined uranium is utilized to generate electricity. The electricity is generated in nuclear power stations. The electricity generation process consists of several steps that include producing heat, conversion of steam etc. Normally, the heat produced by nuclear reactor is utilized to operate the turbines, which eventually generate electricity.
Extraction of uranium from natural sources
The overall process of uranium extraction consist of four steps like mining, enrichment, recycling and fuel disposal.
Mines policy
Depending upon the availability and the environmental and social conditions, several nations have adopted several policies, which restrict the production of uranium.
Major components of uranium mining industry
Some essential components which are involved in the growth of uranium mining industry are transportation facilities, garbage disposal mechanism and policy and of course the mine workers. The transportation comprise of construction of roads, transporting material and and arrangement for the disposal of wastes. This garbage disposal mechanism is a major issue, as this may cause several health hazards.
Advantages and disadvantages of uranium mining industry
Energy from uranium is produced in the nuclear reactor and these nuclear reactors do not produce carbon dioxide, which is one of the major pollutants in the atmosphere. The amount of energy per unit is also very high.

One of the major disadvantages of uranium mining industry is the effect of radiation, which can cause several health hazards and even death. So, uranium mining industry should have all the facilities to protect manking from the ill effect of radiation. The nuclear reactor needs very sophisticated appliances and it also needs to maintain a high level of security and protection.
