The Alabama Metal Industry, better known as the Alabama Metal Industries Corporation or simply AMICO, is headquartered in Birmingham, Alabama. The Alabama Metal Industry (or AMICO) was founded in the year 1939. The corporation, presently dealing with the manufacturing and distribution of metal products, on a large scale throughout the U.S., was in fact established as a small manufacturer of metal accessories, mainly metal laths, initially operating from a store room for lumber.

In the later half of 2005, Gibraltar Industries Corporation (which was founded in the year 1972 in Buffalo, New York and incorporated in 1993) acquired the Alabama Metal Industry (or AMICO). This acquisition was (and still is) the largest of its kind, carried out by the Gibraltar Industries Corporation.

The initial offering of the Alabama Metal Industry (or AMICO) originally included the likes of metal laths and the subsequent additions of a few other metal accessories such as metal bar grating, expanded metal etc. As of the present, in addition to those mentioned above, the Alabama Metal Industry (or AMICO) manufactures and circulates metal items such as safety grating, fibreglass grating, vinyl bead accessories, and perforated metal. These metal products of the Alabama Metal Industry (or AMICO) are used in the construction of structures such as stairs, platforms, walkways,barriers, and slip-resistant surfaces and many more.
