Liberia is a lower income economies coming under the Sub Saharan African region as to the classification made by the World Bank on the basis of income and region for the year 2006.

Agriculture is the most important part of the country's economy. About 90% of the peoples in the country are engaged in this sector and more than 50% of the Gross Domestic Product of the country comes from agricultural activities.

Major Agricultural products of the country are cocoa, coffee, rubber, palm oil, sugar cane, sheep and goats. Important industries are diamonds, rubber processing, and mining.It also earns major exports earnings from the exports of iron ore and rubber.
