Armenia is a lower middle-income economies coming under the Europe and central Asian region, as to the classification made by the World Bank on the basis of income and region for the year 2006.

The fertile soil and extensive irrigation facilities have contributed a lot to the country's economy by fostering agricultural sector. Important crops of the country are potatoes, olives, cotton, grapes, and diary products. Major industries of the country are cement, textiles, chemicals and food industries. The natural resources in Armenia are zinc, aluminum, molybdenum, and marble.
