Many large cities are finding innovative ways of using credit cards for business and personal use.  One such company is San Francisco, California, which is seeing a number of changes regarding a San Francisco credit card account.  For instance, the transit agency started solicitation to credit card partners to develop a new rewards card.

While it is not hard to find a San Francisco credit card that offers rewards and bonuses, this one is slightly different.  Several years ago, officials in San Francisco realized that they had a highly successful rapid transit system and that the people riding it should be rewarded.  With this, they began to put programs in place that would keep the credit card company going strong while giving back to consumers.

Because the Bay Area Rapid Transit District, or BART in San Francisco moves more people than the busiest airport in the entire country, a decision was made to have a special San Francisco credit card developed that card companies, banks, and credit unions could market.  This card was eventually launched and now offers benefits to the cardholder but also promotes the Transit District by naming this card, “BART Rewards Card.”

The goal of building a San Francisco credit card such as this was based on the concept that loyalty could be established customers that ride BART through a rewards system.  This card works in much the same way as an airline card works or any program involving co-branding.  Cards such as this offer wonderful rewards, as well as special services, and amazing discounts.

Considering that more than 320,000 people ride the Bay Area Rapid Transit District every day and some two million people a year, giving them a way of enjoying benefits for their dedication to this city’s main transportation system turned out to be an excellent idea.  To get things started, officials began brainstorming to design a San Francisco credit card, making it unlike any other cared ever offered.

It has been well-documented that the number of people riding BART has continued to grow over the years.  Just six years ago, this transit system handled almost 13% more passenger trips than Hartsfield Airport in Atlanta, Georgia, which according to statistics published by the United States Bureau of Transportation Statistics is the busiest in the country.  With numbers such as this, the people that choose to benefit from BART have the right to be rewarded and this San Francisco credit card does just that.

Keep in mind that the people coming up with this type of credit card had an incredible marketing opportunity.  After all, with so many people gathering in one place for public transportation, the audience for promoting this San Francisco credit card was tremendous.  With a card such as this, the credit card company was given the chance to build a stronger customer base while giving BART more recognition and appreciation.  Of course, the passengers of BART also benefit with all the rewards.

With the BART Reward San Francisco credit card being such a huge success, even in a tough economy, has encouraged other transportation and public organizations to follow suit.  After all, this single card has created a winning situation for everyone involved!  Offered by Chase, this MasterCard is a credit card worth having.
