Pioneering the Goldfish Points loyalty scheme, Goldfish credit cards were launched in 1996 as a joint venture between British Gas and HFC Bank. After exchanging hands several times, the Goldfish business was finally acquired by Barclays in April 2008.

 

Goldfish Credit Card: Benefits

If you buy the Goldfish credit card, you can

  • Earn one point for every £1 spent. There is no limit to the number of points you can earn.
  • Earn extra reward points worth £30 in vouchers when you spend £100 or more a month for the first three months of opening your account. If you continue to spend this amount every month for three months, you would have accumulated 7,500 points by the start of the fourth month.
  • An additional 100 points for every balance transfer of more than £1,000 you make.
  • Pay no interest on purchases made with the card for the first three months.
  • Make purchase and balance transfer at a typical APR of 9.9% (variable). You would not be liable for any handling fee. This card has the lowest interest rate offered by any other rewards cards.
  • Pay for purchases of £10 or less with the card’s contact-less payment technology.

 

Goldfish Credit Card: Services

If you own a Goldfish credit card, you would:

  • Receive advice on the ways to protect yourself from identity theft.
  • Be able to conduct shopping safely and monitor your account for unusual spending with Fraud Monitoring including Chip and PIN.
  • Get protection against loss or damage to goods ordered from UK suppliers online or over the phone by using your Barclaycard. This protection remains till the delivery of the goods. However, second-hand goods and services are not included in this protection.
  • Receive emergency help when you are traveling abroad.
  • Get attractive deals on thousands of destinations across the globe if you pay for your travel with your Barclaycard.
  • Online account services. You can use this service to manage your account over the net from the comforts of your home or office anytime.
  • Card replacement and cash advance in emergencies, such as loss of your Barclaycard.
  • Free text alert service. You can opt to get a text alert five days before your payment due date.
  • Customer service assistance around the clock.

 

You can redeem the points you earn for vouchers. These vouchers can be used at more than 25 well known brands, such as Argos, Boots, Mothercare, Odeon and Debenhams.
