Latest news on Louisiana tax has confirmed that proposals regarding increase of gas taxes are doing rounds in state legislature. Herbert Dixon who is a Democrat Representative has proposed an increase of 4 percent in LA tax imposed on gasoline products.

There is already a gallon tax of Louisiana that is being imposed at a rate of 20 per cent. However, opposition regarding introduction of any new tax in Louisiana has been pouring in from various quarters and people like Bobby Jindal have already voiced their disapproval.

As per reports on tax at Louisiana 4 percent of funds generated through imposition of this new Louisiana tax would be utilized for some exclusive projects that would focus on construction of bridges and roads. As per wish of Dixon this new Louisiana tax would be imposed from 1st July 2010 onwards.

Latest news on Louisiana tax has revealed that a number of tax breaks would be provided to tax payers when they file their returns for fiscal 2008. This information has been provided by Jim Donelon who serves as insurance commissioner in this state.

He has stressed that people who have victimized by hurricanes Gustav and Ike would be eligible to receive a slew of federal and Louisiana tax benefits. This tax deduction benefit would be applicable for losses suffered in excess of $100. As far as insurance premium of homeowners is concerned there would be Louisiana tax credit provided at a rate of 7 percent.

Citizens Insurance is an insurance benefit provided to residents of Louisiana who normally are not deemed eligible to receive such services by other insurance providers. Assessment homeowners who are affiliated to this program would be eligible to receive Louisiana tax rebates.

Louisiana Department of Revenue is responsible for collection of Louisiana tax. It provides separate services for various types of tax payers – individuals and businesses. Tax professionals in that state can also acquire valuable information from website of Louisiana Department of Revenue.
