Alabama Tax

Recently an Alabama tax reprieve has been introduced for people who have not been paying their taxes on a regular basis. This AL tax benefit has attracted a lot of attention from delinquent tax payers who are willing to pay their taxes provided they do not have to incur any penalties.

Latest news has confirmed that a business enterprise, which is one of many delinquent tax payers wishing to avail Ala tax reprieve benefits, has tax dues worth $400,000. This reprieve benefit of tax of Alabama is known as Operation Clean Slate and it has been initiated on February 1st. As per Tim Russell who is State Revenue Commissioner hundred people or more have been calling up their offices in order to avail this tax in Alabama benefit.

A number of accountants who represent unidentified business organizations in Alabama have also called up respective authorities regarding tax at Alabama reprieve benefits. These entities have come up with imaginary situations in order to get an idea as to how much they need to pay by way of taxes.

Russell has reiterated that this Operation Clean Slate program is a good first step that has been taken in order to bring down level of irregularities in Alabama tax statistics. Most of these callers have not been forthcoming regarding details of their income as far as their secondary jobs are concerned when they have filed for Alabama tax.

Both Russell and Bob Riley, governor of Alabama have agreed to do away with Alabama tax penalties. They are also refraining from filing criminal charges against delinquent tax payers. However, this benefit would only be provided to tax payers who file their Alabama tax returns prior to 15th May 2009. This benefit would also be provided to those people who want to make amendments to their tax returns so that they could be filed properly.

Russell said that he expects results to be better than what had been case 25 years ago when previous Alabama tax amnesty program had been introduced. He is not sure how much amount would be generated as a result of this move but he said that he would be let down if more than $3 million is not realized.
