Master Card Secure Code

Master Card Secure Code is very much important for security of the transactions made through Master Card. Security Code for any credit card is also called Card Validation Code which gives protection against credit card fraud. Security Codes are generally of two types:

1. First type of Security Code is called CVC1 or CVV1. This security code is encoded on the Magnetic Strip of the card. This code is useful when the card is being used at the presence of the card holder in person.

2. Second Type of Security Code is called CVC2 or CVV2. This security code is useful when transactions are made with the card over the Internet or over phone and the card holder is not present in person.

Master Card has a 3 digit security code which is called CVC2 or Card Validation Code. This Master Card Security Code is not embossed on the card. It is printed on the Signature Panel at the back of the card.

Here, it should be mentioned that the New North American Master Cards have the security codes printed not on the signature strip but on separate panel to the right of the Signature Panel. This initiative has ruled out the chance of overwriting the numbers by signing the card.

Other than this Card Validation Code, Master Card also provides their customers with a Master Card Secure Code which contributes another level authentication for the Master Card purchases made online. Every card holder who wants to participate in Secure Code Program chooses a unique personal code which is known only to the card holder and the Master Card issuing Bank.

This code helps to secure the payments by Master Card at thousands of Online Stores. Whenever anyone wants to shop online using Master Card, he has to enter his private Master Card Secure Code for the Check Out Process. This system protects unauthorized use of Master Card by verifying whether the purchaser is indeed the card holder or not.
