A FAFSA form can only be processed after it has been signed by the student and his/her parents (if applicable).
There are three ways through which you can sign the FAFSA application:
Electronically sign the form with a PIN: This application process becomes simpler with the use of a PIN number to sign electronically. Moreover, you can use the same PIN to sign your FAFSA every year until you finish your graduation.
Print the form, sign it and mail the signature page after you submit the FAFSA online.
Sign your Student Aid Report (SAR) and return it in the mail.
The steps to obtain a PIN over the Internet are:

Click the “Apply For A PIN” link on the left panel of the screen

Already have a Federal Student Aid PIN but have lost or forgotten it. In such cases, you can request for a duplicate PIN by clicking the “Request A Duplicate PIN” link on the home page.
Believe your PIN has been compromised. In such cases, you can request for a different PIN by selecting the “Change My PIN” link on the panel on the left of the screen.
Previously disabled your PIN and would like to use it again. You can re-establish your PIN by selecting the “Reestablish My PIN” link on the left panel of the screen the home page.
You may select one of the following PIN delivery methods:
Instantly select or view your PIN online.
Receive an e-mail with the PIN immediately.
Request the PIN be mailed to you (approximately 7-10 days for delivery).
Once you submit the FAFSA form, you will be notified by your school regarding the awards for which you are eligible.
