China ’s job market has started booming once again after mid-2009. In China, finance jobs are concentrated in Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong. Moreover, with the arrival of prestigious foreign funded banks and insurance companies in the nation, the demand for finance graduates has surged.
 
According to People’s Daily, finance is the highest paying sector in China in 2009. In the first quarter of 2009, finance professionals took home an average of 7,399 Yuan.

 

China Finance Jobs: Major Sectors

Following are the three main sectors offering finance jobs in China:
  • Corporate finance – A corporate finance executive should have a strong hold on intuition and analytics. Finance graduates can work as accountants or auditors in corporate finance companies.
  • Banking – Banks require finance graduates for the positions of fund manager and due diligence analyst. Despite the 2008 economic meltdown, banks in China recorded a surge. Some of the best banks to work with in China are Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), Bank of China, Agricultural Bank of China and China Construction Bank Corporation.
  • Investment Banking –This field offers a wide array of jobs to finance students and graduates.

    They can apply for the position of financial advisor or financial analyst. Students can find investment banking jobs in restructuring, risk management, boutiques and healthcare banking.

  • Insurance – Financial planning and financial reporting are the main responsibilities of finance graduates in insurance companies.

 

China Finance Jobs: Hiring Plans

 

Hudson recruitment company revealed in the Hudson Report Q2 (2008) that 57% of the respondents in all industries in China had high hiring expectations. In Hong Kong, the increase in hiring expectations remains at 59% permanently.

China Finance Jobs: Finance Advisors

The job of a Financial Advisor is among the top ten best careers in China. One of the main reasons behind the increase in demand for financial advisors is that many people and organizations are facing financial problems after the 2008 meltdown.
 
Career fairs are also held in Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai, offering advice to students seeking jobs. Degree holders have good prospects of getting a job in the financial sector.
