Directline holiday insurance is offered by Europ Assistance Holdings Ltd. This policy can be acquired by any UK or EU resident below the age of 85 years, provided s/he is registered with a local doctor. Directline holiday insurance is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), for added protection. If Directline is unable to meet its obligations, the insured person will receive compensation against his/her claim from the FSCS.

Directline Holiday Insurance: Health Requirements

A medical cover is an important aspect of Directline holiday insurance. Therefore, an individual is required to answer a couple of health related questions for obtaining the policy. In some cases, individuals are also required to answer a few general medical questions. Directline also requires an applicant to contact their medical screening service if s/he:

  • Has been prescribed medication, attended consultations or received treatment in the past 2 years.

  • Has a history of heart attack, chest pain, angina or any other such heart condition.

  • Is suffering from or has suffered from high blood pressure, cholesterol or any circulatory disease.

Directline Holiday Insurance: Limitations

Some limitations and exclusions of Directline holiday insurance are:

  • Certain sports and activities, which are not the main purpose of the holiday, are covered by the Directline holiday for no extra premium. However, some sports and activities are subject to revised terms, and some come outside the purview of the policy.

  • The policy does not cover third party liability for hired articles, such as motorized vehicles, sail boats and airborne crafts. An individual has to take out a separate policy for third party injury and property damage.

  • An individual has to pay extra for certain claims, such as personal possessions, loss of passport and trip cancellation or curtailment.

An individual is entitled to cancel the Directline holiday insurance if the cover terms fall short of the requirements. However, keep in mind that the policy must be cancelled within 14 days of obtaining the insurance document/certificate.
