President Barack Obama’s old car is on sale. In mint condition, his Chrysler clocked just slightly above 20,000 miles in its three years of service and is commanding an asking price of 5,000 percent above its resale value. Just how much is it selling for?

If you’re interested in cars with a history, you might just be interested in the President’s old ride. No, we’re not talking about vintage cars. It’s a regular 2005 Chrysler 300C, maintained in pristine condition.

Is this a hoax? It seems not.

Lisa Czibor, a seasoned eBay car seller based in Illinois, is pulling out all the stops to prove that Barack Obama once owned the gray Chrysler.

In her eBay listing, Czibor posts images of the vehicle, including two scanned pictures of the car title, with one showing “Barack H Obama” as the lessee.

In her description, she explained:

Obama received a lot of negative media attention in Detroit & from Auto Makers regarding his gas guzzling V-8 Hemi. He drove this Chrysler 300C from 2004 through the summer of 2007. Over 19,000 miles (30,577 km) were put on this car before Obama traded it for a 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid.

She added that Obama drove the car while he was an Illinois Senator, and “perhaps drove the car in Washington D.C. and back to Chicago in 2005 and 2006”.

What is the most unbelievable is however, not the story behind the car, but the asking price of the car itself.

A simple check reveals that a similar car usually commands a price of $20,000. In this case, Czibor is asking for a starting bid of $1,000,000, a price hike of $980,000 –almost a 5,000 percent price hike.

Would anyone buy it? Perhaps. Czibor pointed out that Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s 1977 “ancient” white Peugeot sold for approximately $2.4 million at auction last year, Adolf Hitler’s convertible blue Mercedes for $8 million, Pope John Paul II’s 1975 Ford Escort GL sold for $690,000 and the current Pope Benedict’s 1999 VW sold for $244,000 though “he probably never drove it as he did not have a driver’s license as a Cardinal but he had a driver.”
