While Digital Promise was officially established in August 2008, the lack of funding meant that the program only became a reality in September 2011, with startup funds and support from the Department of Education as well as the Carnegie Corporation of New York and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
Despite the delay, the new initiative now promises to change the American classroom through the use of technology. How will the average student benefit, and how will the Digital Promise alter the face of the US education system?
