Infographic: China Ahead of US and Germany in Educational Technology

A survey commissioned by computer-makers Dell has found that schools across the world are not meeting the educational technology needs of its students. But even more surprising is the finding that China is ahead of the United States and Germany when it comes to using technology in learning.

Additionally, the Innovation in Education survey also found that "Chinese students in major cities say they spend more time using technology in school" than their peers in the U.S. and Germany. Comprising some 1,575 interviews, the findings also indicate that there are a few things we can probably learn from China. According to the findings:

  • China is more likely to integrate technology into all curricula,

  • Chinese students spend more time using technology in school, and

  • Chinese teachers are more technologically savvy according to students.

Steve Felice, President and Chief Commercial Officer at Dell, said:

We heard from secondary school and university students, parents, and teachers that they are familiar and comfortable with technology, but don’t think it’s playing as large a role in the classroom as it should. Adults would like to see technology more integrated into learning. And, perhaps most importantly, many teachers do not feel as comfortable as their students do in using technology.
