GHI Health Insurance (which stands for Group Health Incorporated) is an Emblem Health Company that serves GHI and GHI HMO Select, Inc. GHI offers accessible and innovative health care for all those interested in giving it a try.

For both individuals and families Group Health Incorporated offers a selection of plans. These include:

·    The GHI Alliance Value PLAN (PPO) - This plan offers basic hospital benefits, medical and prescription drugs for both in and out of the network.
·    The GHI Alliance 365 Day Hospital Plan- This plan is effective for inpatient and outpatient benefits and does not come with coinsurance or a deductible.
·    The GHI Small Business Advantage Plan- No referrals required are necessary for this plan. This insurance plan offers wide access to pharmacies and locations.
·    The Healthy New York EPO- This plan offers complete coverage.
·    The Direct Pay GHI HMO, as well as Direct Pay POS and Healthy New York- These plans offer complete coverage, cost saving options and a number of different services.

As you browse the GHI Health Insurance plans to see what each has to offer you may wonder what certain terms mean. It is important to understand what a PPO is. PPO stands for Preferred Provider Organization. This is a managed care arrangement that is composed of a series of doctors and hospitals. It also consists of other providers who have made contracts with an insurance company to offer their health care services to members for a predetermined rate.

PPO types of health insurance plans are such that members are permitted the right to step out of the network in order to see other doctors and visit other hospitals. The only downside to this is that by doing so they will have to pay higher costs out-of-pocket. The option is also there to stay within the PPO.

GHI Health Insurance plans offer their services by way of PPO’s. In fact most individual plans on the market today are such. If you decide to be insured by way of a preferred provider or to go with an in-network then you are much better off than if you went with a non-preferred doctor, provider or hospital. If you choose to go out of the network then the deductibles will be generally much higher. As well the co-insurance can be as much as 20 percent higher. Some plans limit the amount of coverage members are allowed if they choose to step outside of the network.

GHI Health Insurance plans is worth a look. If you currently do not have health coverage then this is the first company you should turn your attention to.
