Fossil fuels are considered as the backbone of the economic development of some of the leading countries of the world. A significant amount of the energy consumed by industries and households around the world is provided by the fossil fuels. Over-dependency has increased the rate of worldwide consumption of the fossil fuels and this is a major threat. The global reserves of fossil fuels are limited and a substantial portion of these fuels has already been consumed. It is necessary to bring down the present consumption rate of these fuels by reducing the dependency on them.

Steps of Reducing Dependency on Fossil Fuels

Experts from leading oil companies have suggested various methods to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. Those may be explained as below:

Using Diesel

The first step is to purchase a car operated by diesel in order to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. Cars can also operated on biodiesel fuels that are prepared by combining diesel with fossil fuels and ingredients that are non fossil fuel based. It has been observed that most of the diesel fuels do not need much mechanical conversion for the purpose of running on biodiesel fuel. Biodiesel fuels are being increasingly available at gas stations. People can even prepare biodiesel fuel at their homes if they have the proper ingredients.

Using Solar Energy

The homes across the world can use solar energy in order to reduce the dependency on fossil fuels. Plans need to be made in order to change over to solar energy. Solar power is expensive as far as installation is concerned. However, solar energy has gained in popularity and that implies that their prices would also come down. The experts have suggested various methods of installation like completing the entire process at one go or doing the entire process in steps.

Using Telecommunications

The experts are of the opinion that telecommunications could be used as a method of reducing dependency on fossil fuels. If people can do their jobs form their homes it would reduce the demand of fossil fuels for the purpose of commuting. All over the world use of telecommunications are being used in the job sector.

Turning Lawns into Organic Gardens

This process is doubly effective as a method of reducing dependence on fossil fuels. First it would reduce the need of transporting organic produce from faraway places on vehicles that run on fossil fuels. Secondly, the usage of the fertilizers that are petroleum based would be reduced to a great extent.

Using Wood for Purposes of Heating

Wood can be used as an alternative to fossil fuels for the purpose of heating. The present day wood stoves produce only a fraction of the amount of emission that was generated during the decade of 70s. The process is pretty cost efficient and sustainable as well.
