Investing in Forex offers great opportunity coupled with highly leveraged returns, which is why enrolling for a Forex course is essential. The initial stages of trading require specialized training for those who are new to the forex market.

Forex courses are helpful as they:

  • comprise useful information about the actual exchange market

  • are designed to help investors to meet trading  requirements

  • cover strategies of risk management in currency trading

Types of Forex Courses

There are two kinds of trading courses:

Online courses: These can be compared to distance learning in a college-level class. Forex courses have instructor based trainings using:

  • PowerPoint presentations

  • eBooks

  • trading simulations

Gradually, a trader will advance through the following levels:

  • beginner

  • intermediate

  • advanced levels

For a trader with limited foreign exchange knowledge, a Forex course that covers the following would be useful:

  • Fundamentals of forex exchange rates

  • How to calculate profits and losses

  • How leverage works

  • Risks of forex trading

  • Forex quotes, prices and glossary

Forex courses range from $50 to hundreds of dollars. So, a beginner should identify the areas of interest/learning pertaining to currency trading and then determine the kind of training to opt for.

Individual training: This type of training is specific so traders are advised to have a basic Forex training first. Individual courses assign a successful trader as mentor, who helps strategize on risk management on actual trades. Individual training runs between 1000 USD and 10000 USD.

What to Look for in a Forex Course

Ÿ         Reputation of the course: A course's reputation can be understood by referring to traders and participating in online forums. The more information you can gather from those who have already completed these courses would be useful.

Ÿ         Certification: Good trading courses are certified by an authorized regulatory body or financial institution. The most popular regulatory board that certifies Forex courses is the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Ÿ         Time/cost: Trading courses can require a full time commitment (if individual mentoring is involved) or can be flexible if it is delivered through online podcast classes (for internet-based learning).

Opting for the right type of Forex course will protect investors and ensure they have a solid foundation in Forex trading so as to make informed decisions.
