Countries with large and proven oil reserves, and the capability to produce and export that oil, such as Saudi Arabia, enjoy a natural economic advantage. As oil becomes more scare, and until renewable or cleaner energy sources are widely available, their income levels should increase. Other countries have high proven reserves, but face political, social or technical impediments to the production or export of that oil, as is currently the case for Iran and Iraq. Countries with high oil imports due to high consumption, and with growing import and consumption needs, face 'Energy Security' issues.
