Measures of domestic production of electricity and consumption. Countries with an abundance of oil, gas, coal or other energy sources, and the ability to refine and produce, will tend to have high electricity production levels, and will often export excess supply. Countries with large populations and growing economies will tend to have growing consumption requirements, needing to import both fuel and electricity. Disruptions or threats to that supply challenges a countries 'Energy Security'. When consumption exceeds production, blackouts and civil unrest are likely.
